With 2013 officially here, people can start looking forward to what might be in the coming year rather than focus on any misfortunes the previous 365 days offered. In the MMA world, few fighters are likely as anxious to forget 2012 as UFC middleweight Mark Munoz. Not only did “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” deal with a number of injuries, but his only appearance inside the Octagon involved a vicious knockout loss to Chris Weidman also snapping a four-fight winning streak.

Were that not bad enough, Munoz was recently involved in a fairly serious automobile accident. Though details are sketchy, the 34-year old posted pictures of a totaled SUV on his Instagram account along with the message, “Thankful for (the) adversities I’ve had in 2012. Changed perspective, looking forward to 2013. Gonna be a great year!”

Munoz is currently sidelined with an injured foot and isn’t expected to see action again for a few more months. A fantastic wrestler, Munoz holds an overall record of 12-3 including six strike-based stoppages.
