The saying “love hurts” will be on display in a literal sense this February 14 when Bellator stops in Charlotte, North Carolina for a show closer in nature to the Valentine’s Day Massacre than an exchange of cards and candy. Appropriately, a title-fight between bantamweight champion Eduardo Dantas and Nova Uniao teammate Marcos Galvao is set to headline Bellator 89, testing the love of divisional gold against the loyalty towards a training partner.

MMAJunkie has confirmed the clash’s attachment to the event with Bellator officials.

Dantas hasn’t been seen in a Bellator cage since April, suffering a knockout loss in Brazil outside of the organization a few months back and subsequently getting a break just to be safe. He holds an overall record of 14-3 with eight finishes including a submission that put former champ Zach Makovsky to sleep when the two met earlier this year.

The 13-5-1 Galvao looked sharp during his Season 6 run towards tournament glory, cementing his status as top contender with a strike-based stoppage of Luis Nogueira in August.
