When a bout between UFC bantamweights Urijah Faber and Vaughan Lee was first rumored, fans began questioning the organization’s logic in terms of booking what many felt was far from a competitive clash. However, Lee recently came forward to deny knowledge of the match-up’s existence, and it appears the British fighter was in fact being truthful rather than coy about his future plans.

While it hasn’t been announced yet, MMAWeekly is reporting that Faber will instead fight Ivan Menjivar. The pairing is expected to take place on February 23 at UFC 157 in Anaheim, giving “The California Kid” an opportunity to entertain fans from his home base for the first time in more than a year.

The 26-6 Faber is coming off a loss to interim champ Renan Barao but is still considered one of the top 135ers in the sport. Among the numerous notable opponents he’s beaten in the past are the likes of Eddie Wineland, Raphael Assuncao, Jens Pulver, Brian Bowles, and Dominick Cruz.

Meanwhile, Menvijar has racked up a 25-9 record over more than a decade in MMA. Nineteen of his victories have involved some form of finish including a submission win over Azamat Gashimov in his most recent rumble.
