Last month, MMA fans saw a match-up between lightweights Jeremy Stephens and Yves Edwards fall apart on the day the two were supposed to tussle when Stephens was arrested at his hotel for an outstanding warrant. Now, in a strange twist, it looks like Stephens-Edwards will face off after all.

According to the UFC, Stephens has stepped in to replace John Cholish on December 8 at UFC on FOX 5. Cholish was forced out of his fight with Edwards after suffering a groin injury while training for the tilt.

Edwards hasn’t seen action in nearly a year, going 2-2 in 2011 with his last bout involving a decision loss to Tony Ferguson. He is one of the UFC’s most seasoned competitors with sixty fights under his belt including 41 wins and 32 finishes.

The 20-8 Stephens is also coming off a stumble in the Octagon and should be out for blood come showtime. Fourteen of his victories have involved a strike-based stoppage such as those over Rafael dos Anjos, Cole Miller, and Marcus Davis.
