While countless people were busy enjoying Thanksgiving dinner yesterday alongside loved ones, former UFC fighter Dennis Hallman was dealing with the latest incident in a string of personal misfortunes. The 36-year old went on Facebook to explain the circumstances, revealing he’d lost his house due to a fire.

“Sad Thanksgiving for me and my family. My house burned down early this AM. Thank God no one was hurt and I have that to be thankful for,” wrote Hallman. “Something like this makes my recent direction change all the harder…the one person that could make me feel okay about everything is no longer here. When God wants you to have a fresh start sometimes he really wants to make his point clear.”

No other updates were offered on Hallman’s situation.

Hallman was released by the UFC earlier this year after coming in overweight, citing an ongoing custody battle and concerns about his wife being addicted to drugs as the root of his issues. He was still paid his salary in hopes it would help him get his life back together.
