It may not be official, but there’s little doubt UFC welterweight Johny Hendrick is the division’s top threat to champion Georges St-Pierre after blasting Martin Kampmann into next week early on in their co-headlining clash at UFC 154. The victory came at just 46 seconds of the opening round when Hendricks landed a perfectly placed combo to Kampmann’s chin, sending him down to the canvas and out of the title picture.

Hendricks’ triumph was named Knockout of the Night and netted him an extra $70,000 on top of his regularly contacted rate. The win was also his fifth straight, adding to success against the likes of Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch.

Rightfully, Fight of the Night honors were bestowed upon main event competitors St-Pierre and Carlos Condit. The welterweight stars went back and forth for five full rounds with Condit even rocking GSP midway through the bouty before St-Pierre went on to earn a decision victory. Each earned $70k as a result.

Last but certainly not least, Submission of the Night was awarded to Ivan Menjivar for his slick Armbar finish of newcomer Azamat Gashimov. He too received $70,000 for the distinction.
