Considering the physicality of MMA, it’s not uncommon for a fighter to go down in the gym after suffering some sort of health-related woe while working alongside teammates. However, injuries typically involve a tweaked/torn ligament, broken bone, or stitch-requiring cut and aren’t life-threatening.

Unfortunately, UFC featherweight Eddie Yagin became an exception to the rule this week after absorbing a blow to the head requiring serious medical attention.

“Please keep (Yagin) in your prayers,” wrote manager Jason House on Twitter. “He got admitted to the ER due to a head injury he suffered (in) training.”

No specifics on his condition were given though clearly it’s a serious matter if the emergency room was required. The 33-year old is currently scheduled to face Dennis Siver on December 8 at UFC on FOX 5, though the match-up is understandably in jeopardy considering Yagin’s status.
