UFC heavyweight champ Junior dos Santos has officially joined an elite group previously made up of fellow title-holders Anderson Silva and Jon Jones, as “Cigano” recently signed an endorsement deal with Nike and will be rocking the company’s Swoosh logo en route to the Octagon next month when he defends his title against Cain Velasquez at UFC 155. Dos Santos’ agreement with the global brand was first rumored a few weeks back.

Nike went on record today confirming Dos Santos’ signing with SporTV, calling it “an honor” to have him on board. Dos Santos has also backed up the claim, going on Twitter to write, “I want to share my happiness with you guys because now I’m part of Team NIKE, biggest sports brand in the world.”

No specifics of the agreement were revealed and it is still unknown as to whether “Cigano” will represent Nike on a worldwide scale or just in his home country of Brazil.

Dos Santos is one of the UFC’s most popular fighters after blending hard-hitting proficiency in the Octagon with soft-spoken humility outside of it. He holds an overall record of 15-1 with ten straight wins including those against the likes of Velasquez, Shane Carwin, Roy Nelson, Fabricio Werdum, and Frank Mir.
