Rising welterweight star Erick Silva got the toughest test of his career last month in the form of a fight against former title-contender Jon Fitch. Silva looked sharp at points in the pairing, even going so far as to nearly submit Fitch, but ultimately lost on the scorecards after his veteran opponent was able to turn up the heat in the third round.

With the experience behind him, Silva is anxious to take the lessons he learned and put them to use sooner than later. Having escaped the match-up relatively unscathed, Silva recently revealed he will be back in action on February 2 at UFC 156.

The date was confirmed by Silva in a recent conversation with TATAME, adding he expected to know who he’ll be fighting in “a week or two”.

Though no potential opponents were hinted at, the 14-3 Silva did mention wanting an eventual rematch with Fitch. In that vein, an interesting option for Silva could be Josh Koscheck who has not only said he hopes to fight at the same event but is a close friend of Fitch’s.
