Two of the top 145ers outside of the UFC’s roster now have a date for their contendership-determining duel, as a bout between Bellator’s Rad Martinez and Shahbulat Shamhalaev has been scheduled to take place in Atlantic City, New Jersey on December 7 at Bellator 83. Both men entered the division’s respective tournament on winning streaks and have kept the momentum going en route to the final.

The bout, confirmed by MMAJunkie, will also replace the Season 7 lightweight final on the card with the 155-pounders now competing a week later at Bellator 84. As is standard practice, the winner of both bouts will move on to receive a title-shot and the last part of a $100,000 payment for emerging as the last man standing.

The 14-2 Martinez has come out with his hand raised in five consecutive fights including a decision over seasoned competitor Wagnney Fabiano last week at Bellator 80. Meanwhile, Shamhalaev improved his record to 11-1-1 by notching first-frame TKOs in both of his tournament tilts and hasn’t been beaten in more than three years.
