Australians looking forward to an opportunity to see one of their beloved own take to the Octagon next month got a dose of bad news this week when it came to light 205er Anthony Perosh had been forced to withdraw from a December 14 bout with Joey Beltran. Perosh suffered a gruesome broken toe while training for the tilt and had to understandably step down.

News of the 40-year old status was confirmed by Australian journalist Adam Ireland who included a picture of Perosh’s toe appearing to be straight out of a horror movie.

Perosh had a three-fight winning streak snapped in his last scrap, suffering a seven-second knockout loss to Ryan Jimmo in July. He holds an overall record of 13-7 with all of his victories involving some form of finish. Fortunately, Perosh is expected to be back in action once he heals up.

The UFC has not confirmed Perosh’s condition though it seems likely a replacement will be named for “The Hippo” at some point in the immediate future given the amount of time remaining before the card.

UFC on FX 6 is headlined by a showdown between TUF: Australia vs. UK coaches George Sotiropoulos and Ross Pearson with other notable match-ups including Chad Mendes-Hacran Dias and Rousimar Palhares-Hector Lombard.
