The UFC made two 2012 stops in Asia and won’t be waiting long before bringing the Octagon back to the Far East next year, announcing a March 3 event in Saitama, Japan at the famed Saitama Super Arena. The venue marks the same building UFC 144 unfolded in this past February and is renowned for the number of PRIDE shows it hosted prior to Zuffa purchasing the famed Japanese organization.

UFC officials revealed the company’s plan to media after the press conference attached to this weekend’s UFC on Fuel 6 lineup, telling MMAJunkie the card will take place on a Sunday in Japan in order to be broadcast at night in North America.

No match-ups were teased, though UFC on Fuel 6 fighters Dong Hyun Kim and Takanori Gomi both expressed interest in participating to MMAJunkie when informed about the possibility.

UFC 144 featured a number of notable bouts including Quinton Jackson’s decision loss to Ryan Bader and lightweight champion Benson Henderson’s successful title-defense against Frankie Edgar. The event reportedly drew 18,000 paying fans, making it one of the highest-attended shows in the promotion’s history.
