Two of the lightweight division’s premier finishers have agreed to face off on December 15 at the Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale in the form of a bout between Melvin Guillard and Jamie Varner. Combined, the duo has scored stoppages in 39 of 50 wins including 26 TKOs.

The show is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas with TUF 16 coaches Roy Nelson-Shane Carwin meeting in the main event. Other match-ups on the card include Jonathan Brookins-Dustin Poirier and Pat Barry-Shane del Rosario.

Guillard was on the bring of contendership last year after winning five straight fights before dropping three of his last four with a knockout loss to Donald Cerrone in his most recent rumble. He holds an overall record of 30-11-2, owning past victories over the likes of Evan Dunham, Gleison Tibau, Dennis Siver, and Jeremy Stephens.

Like “The Young Assassin”, Varner is also coming off a defeat but had won three in a row prior to the stumble. The 20-7-1 former WEC champion has split his scraps since joining the UFC, scoring an upset over Edson Barboza in May before being tapped out by Joe Lauzon a few months later.
