UFC featherweight Chad Mendes took to Twitter this morning to confirm his next fight would come before the end of the year, announcing he was set to return to the Octagon on December 15 in Australia at the UFC on FX 6.

“It’s official like a referee whistle! I’m fighting Hacran Dias Dec 15 in Australia,” exclaimed the 12-1 former title-contender. Mendes started off 2012 with a loss to current featherweight champion Jose Aldo, the first and only loss of his career. Mendes was able to get right his ship in July when he fought Cody McKenzie and was able to finish him via knockout with shots to the body in just over 30 seconds.

Dias (21-1-1) made his promotional debut against Yuri Alcantara at UFC 147 in Brazil where the newcomer was able to pick up a Unanimous Decision victory. The December fight will only be the third time Dias has fought outside of his home country.

The event is scheduled to feature a headlining tilt between middleweights Hector Lombard-Rousimar Palhares with a co-main featuring TUF: Australia vs. UK coaches George Sotiropolous and Ross Pearson. The season’s winners will also be determined at the show.
