After Ronda Rousey (6-0)  dismantled her sixth straight opponent in the first round via Armbar, the first question that popped into almost every fans minds had to do with when “Rowdy Ronda” might face former featherweight champ Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos. According to Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker, the discussion about booking the fight will pick up a ton of steam in a few months when Santos is cleared to fight again after being sidelined for a year due to a failed drug test.

“That fight, believe me, is something I think should happen. I think it’s something that will happen. And when ‘Cyborg’ gets off suspension, the conversation is going to get very, very real about putting that fight together because I think that’s the fight everyone wants to see,” explained Coker in an interview with MMAJunkie.

In the meantime, Coker believes Rousey won’t be waiting around for Santos and will likely want a fight soon, saying, “She barely broke a sweat in her last fight. It’s something where she’s been dominant and she’s going to want to fight, I think, before ‘Cyborg’ can actually get back in the cage off the suspension.”

“We haven’t flushed it out 100 percent because Ronda just fought,” he continued. “We’re going to have some serious conversations about the next move. But my feeling is she’s going to want to compete before Cyborg is able to compete.”

No opponent was linked to a potential showdown with Rousey.
