Strikeforce made Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir official today by way of a press release, confirming the card will take place on November 3 in Oklahoma City and will feature Grand Prix winner Daniel Cormier colliding with former UFC champion Frank Mir as well as a title-fight between between defending middleweight king Luke Rockhold and unbeaten up-and-comer Lorenz Larkin.

“As a former Oklahoma State wrestler and two-time Olympian, Cormier has used his wrestling background to immediately put himself among the sport’s elite,” said Strikeforce head Scott Coker in a statement to media. “On November 3 he faces his toughest opponent to date in former UFC heavyweight champ Frank Mir, who has beaten legend after legend on his own path to the title. We’ve had a lot of big heavyweight bouts in the history of Strikeforce, but I can tell you, without a doubt, that this is the one that you don’t want to miss.”

No word was mentioned as to whether the bout would be a five-rounder based on its headlining status.

On the topic of Rockhold-Larkin, Coker declared, “This bout could easily be the toughest match-up he’s seen yet due to Larkin’s equally impressive standup.”

As usual, The preliminary will be broadcast on Showtime Extreme while the main card will take place on Showtime. Tickets for the event go on sale to the public on Friday, September 14.
