If things had played out as originally expected, today would be filled with conversation about the clash between champion and challenger at UFC 151. However, as has been documented on countless occasions, the title-fight between light heavyweights Jon Jones and Dan Henderson never unfolded over the weekend for a variety of reasons including Henderson’s health, an under-booked lineup, and Jones’ refusal to face a replacement on short notice.

With the event off, many members of the MMA world were left with an open Saturday night, allowing fans and fighters go about their regular lives without concern for any action inside the Octagon. And, if you’re Jones, it meant sitting around your house while doing nothing…or at least so he stated in response to an online message from an upset individual.

“Thanks to (Jones) I have no plans tonight,” Tweeted an angry fan to which Jones replied, “Thanks to the old man and his knee I don’t either.”

Henderson was forced out of their UFC 151 fight due to a torn MCL. Jones later elaborated on his comment, stating the “old man” rib was his way of addressing Henderson’s past use of the word “kid” when describing him.

Jones’ remarks rubbed many folks the wrong way given his supposed willingness to shoulder the blame for UFC 151 being cancelled, while others showed sincere appreciation for his sense of humor. Regardless, while opinions varied one thing is certain – the rivalry between Jones and Henderson is far from done.
