This past weekend Strikeforce welterweight Jason High quietly picked up his seventh straight win including a trio of triumphs under the organization’s banner. Also impressive, the 30-year old finished opponent Nate Moore in less than thirty seconds with a Guillotine Choke.

While the performance has some calling High the division’s top contender to champion Nate Marquardt’s title, “The Kansas City Bandit” isn’t calling for a crack at the belt just yet but does have his mind on a few details in relation to his next rumble.

“I’m hoping to fight again on the September card. That would be perfect for me. Hopefully I can be on that main card, because I definitely feel I deserve to be,” explained High in an interview with MMAWeekly.

“As far as welterweights, I’ve got to be at the top of the heap. I definitely want to finish out the year solid and then see what’s up,” he added.

High holds an overall record of 16-3 with ten finishes. Other notable competitors in his win column include Andre Galvao, Jordan Mein, and Hayato Sakurai.
