Chances are UFC middleweights Mark Munoz and Chris Weidman weren’t able to hit the grill or down a few frosty beverages a week ago on the Fourth of July like most of their friends, family, and fans did, as both men were busy preparing for their headlining tilt tomorrow night at UFC on Fuel 4 where the winner will emerge as a legitimate contender to Anderson Silva’s divisional crown. While the two talented 185ers may have had to skip some of the festivities often associated with July 4th, it appears Munoz expects both to bring pyrotechnics to the Octagon come showtime.

“You’re going to see fireworks from beginning to end. You have two top wrestlers going at it who are very well-rounded that like to put on a show,” said Munoz in an interview with the UFC.

Munoz’s excitement comes from the not only the challenge of defeating an opponent with Weidman’s credentials but also that of constantly growing as a Mixed Martial Artist.

“He’s a very good striker, he transitions really well into his takedowns, and he’s got great jiu-jitsu,” explained Munoz of Weidman before looking inward, adding, “I always make my weaknesses my strengths, and I’m definitely looking forward to this fight. I always look at every fight as having to try and beat myself, not the other guy standing across from the Octagon, because I always want to have a better performance than the last one.”

UFC on Fuel 4 starts with prelims at 5:30 PM EST on Facebook before the main card takes over on Fuel TV at 8:00 PM EST.
