Fans in Calgary might want to be careful as they head to the arena for UFC 149, as it appears the injury bug is still very much present in relation to the July 21 card. Earlier today the UFC announced featherweight George Roop was hurt while training for a scheduled fight against Antonio Carvalho and had been replaced by Daniel Pineda.

Roop joins Jose Aldo, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Yoshihiro Akiyama, Michael Bisping, Thiago Silva, and Thiago Alves as fighters set to see action at the event before suffering a health-related setback during preparation for the pairing.

Pineda in 2-1 inside the Octagon, seeing a two-fight winning streak snapped by Mike Brown last month at UFC 146. The 26-year old submission specialist holds an overall record of 17-8 with all of his victories involving some form of finish.

UFC 149 is headlined by bantamweights Urijah Faber-Renan Barao meeting for an interim title. Other featured bouts include Cheick Kongo-Shawn Jordan and Hector Lombard-Tim Boetsch.
