UFC flyweight Ian McCall won’t be making the same mistake tonight that he did in March if he finds himself in a highly advantageous position against Demetrious Johnson. McCall, who faces Johnson tonight in the main event at UFC on FX 3, was mounted on Johnson’s back in their initial meeting but ended up showboating at certain points instead of fully focusing on finishing his foe.

In the end the ringside judges ruled the fight a Draw, making McCall’s decision to entertain the fans instead of lay into Johnson could have ultimately cost him the decision.

McCall spoke about his match-up to Fuel TV after yesterday’s weigh-ins where he went so far as to predict he would stop “Mighty Mouse” before a “sudden victory” period was even an option, though he also acknowledged Johnson will be tougher this time around than last.

“I definitely felt it but I’m sure he’s fixed that problem so yeah, the third round will not be as easy as it was,” said McCall of some of the conditioning issues Johnson seemed to experience in the final frame of their previous bout. “I’m gonna make a prediction – I’m gonna finish him in three…around the third.”

UFC on FX 3 starts this afternoon at 5:00 PM EST on Facebook. Fuel TV takes over at 6:00 PM EST with main card action on FX at 9:00 PM EST.
