Bellator Season 6 kept on trucking earlier tonight with Bellator 65, an event headlined by bantamweight champ Zach Makovsky making his first title-defense with 23-year old Brazilian Eduardo Dantas standing in his way of retaining the belt. The show also featured tournament action from 135ers Alexis Vila-Luis Alberto Nogeuira and Marcos Galvao-Ed West, as well as a semifinal scrap between featherweights Daniel Straus-Mike Corey.

While Makovsky did his best to fend off Dantas, the Nova Uniao blackbelt proved to be too much for “Fun Size”, winning a handful of stand-up exchanges and showing off his BJJ wizardry when action hit the mat. In the end, Dantas locked up an Arm-Triangle Choke in the second round of their bout and separated Makovsky from consciousness to become the NEW 135-pound champion!

Also at bantamweight, Galvao and Nogueira emerged as semifinalists after outpointing their opponents in convincing fashion. Straus also advanced in his respective tournament, coming out strong in the opening frame to damage Corey and then cruising the rest of the way despite some apparent issues with cardio in the final five minutes.
