It looks like the odds are increasing as far as the probability of Vinny Magalhaes returning home, at least professionally, after severing ties with M-1 Global in recent weeks. Magalhaes, who vacated M-1’s light heavyweight title to be a free agent, is apparently in talks to rejoin the UFC after a run to the Ultimate Fighter 8 final but prompt departure from the organization afterward.

According to an interview on MMAJunkie Radio, Magalhaes is negotiating with a number of promotions with the UFC being amongst them and “definitely attractive”.

Magalhaes also elaborated on his decision to abandon M-1 Global after one of the company’s chief officials was seen cheering for an opponent, as well as coaching him, saying, “The first thing I said when I heard about it was, ‘I’m never going to fight for these guys again. A few months later, that’s still my thought.”

The 9-5 Magalhaes has won seven of his last eight fights with a decision defeat in the bunch. However, all of his victories involved some form of stoppage including five submissions, a testament to his accomplishments outside of the cage as a high-level BJJ practitioner.
