Tonight kicks off the fifteenth season of the Ultimate Fighter with a new network and “real time” format featuring live fights. The show has unquestionably come a long way since debuting in 2005 and, like many fans, UFC announcer Joe Rogan has been along for the ride since Day One.

Rogan recently shared some of his favorite moments from past seasons of TUF in a segment on last week’s episode of UFC Tonight including his perspective on the historic first fight between Forrest Griffin-Stephan Bonnar.

“The first season was the first time reality television was integrated with such an exciting and intense growing sport, and it came together in the most beautiful and poetic way possible with the finals,” said Rogan of the TUF 1 final. “The estimations were that there were as many as eight million people watching this fight. That’s unfathomable! People are at home, and they were calling their friends up, and they’re like, ‘Dude! You’ve gotta watch this. There is a craaazy fight going on and these two white guys are beating the sh*t out of each other!’ And that was the birth of modern Mixed Martial Arts.”

Other highlights include the palpable dislike between Rashad Evans-Quinton Jackson as well as B.J. Penn sniping teammates from Jens Pulver’s squad before either coach had even made a single pick.
