The UFC is less than 24 hours away from making its official return to one of MMA’s birthplaces after more than a decade away. However, before the fighters can face off inside the Octagon at UFC 144 they’ll have to battle the bulge as it were, attempting to make weight despite the travel and time/cultural differences.

UFC 144 is headlined by a lightweight title-fight between champion Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson with six other scraps set for the PPV portion of the card including Yoshihiro Akiyama-Jake Shields, Tim Boetsch-Yushin Okami, Anthony Pettis-Joe Lauzon, and Ryan BaderQuinton Jackson. The main card starts at 10:00 PM EST with prelims on Facebook/FX leading up to the broadcast.

The lone fighter that did not make weight was Jackson, who came in at 211 pounds for his light heavyweight match with Bader in the co-main event. “Rampage” had mentioned on his Twitter account earlier in the day he was having trouble with the weight cut and was still six pounds over with four hours to go.

“I’m sorry 2 my fans, the UFC and my opponent,” Jackson posted. “Thanks 2 Ryan 4 taking the fight. Sorry 4 not making weight.”
