Fans in Omaha and tuning in from around the world for UFC on Fuel 1 got a mid-week treat last night courtesy of a solid UFC show capped off by a fantastic fifteen minute fracas featuring Jake Ellenberger and Diego Sanchez. The two talented welterweights left the audience wanting more after a number of power-packed exchanges and near comeback from Sanchez.

Their collective efforts earned Fight of the Night at the event as well as an additional $50,000 for each. The award was announced at the post-event press conference where UFC President Dana White also said the bout had inspired him to make sure all main events are five around affairs regardless of stature.

Knockout of the Night went to unbeaten heavyweight Stipe Miocic who followed up on his win over Joey Beltran by knocking out Philip De Fries less than a minute into their bout. He too took home $50,000 for the honor.

Last but not least, Ivan Menjivar’s Rear-Naked Choke of John Albert after an action-packed few minutes was named Submission of the Night (and came with the attached $50k). While it was the card’s only tap-out, the technique certainly deserved attention based on Menjivar’s ability to come back from some early damage to pick up the slick stoppage.
