Two welterweights in desperate need of a victory will collide at UFC on FX 1 as Charlie Brenneman will take on Daniel Roberts in January. The bout will most likely take place as part of the nights preliminary action, which will air live on FuelTV.

Roberts confirmed the fight via his Twitter account.

After upsetting Rick Story at UFC Live 4 with an excellent wrestling game, Brenneman was quickly defeated by Anthony Johnson at UFC Live 6 this past October. The AMA Fight Club stand out is 3-2 in his UFC career with victories over Jason High, the aforementioned Story, and Amilcar Alves.

Roberts has also had an inconsistent UFC run, going 3-3 in the octagon and having lost his last two fights to Claude Patrick and Rich Attonito. Prior to that Roberts rattled off three straight victories over Forrest Petz, Mike Guymon, and Greg Soto.

UFC on FX 1 is scheduled for January 20 at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. The night will be headlined by a lightweight clash between Jim Miller and Melvin Guillard.
