The UFC 136 card is complete as featherweights Zhang Tie Quan and Darren Elkins will do battle in the lone star state. The fight will take place on the preliminary portion of the card.

UFC President Dana White confirmed the match-up via the UFC website.

One of Japan’s top prospects, “The Mongolian Wolf” picked up his first UFC victory back in February, quickly submitting Jason Reinhardt with a guillotine choke in the first round. With only one career loss in 14 professional fights, Quan has finished all 13 of his opponents in victory. The lone loss on his record came via decision against Danny Downes back at WEC 53.

After being out of action for 10 months, Elkins returned to the cage at UFC 131. Making his featherweight debut, “The Damage” picked up a closely contested and somewhat controversial decision victory over Michihiro Omigawa. Elkins also holds notable victories over Pat Curran and Duane Ludwig.

UFC 136: Edgar vs. Maynard 3 is scheduled for October 8 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. The night will be headlined by two title fights. In the main event, UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar puts his title on the line against Gray Maynard. In the co-main event, UFC featherweight king Jose Aldo battles veteran Kenny Florian.
