Officials with Spike TV issued a press release on Tuesday to announces that this past Saturday’s telecast of UFC Fight Night 17 averaged 1.7 million viewers for a household rating of 1.3.
The ratings were good enough for UFN 17 to rank number one on ad-supported cable in the coveted demographics of men between the ages of 18-34 and men between the ages of 18-49.
In the M 18-34 demo, UFN 17 registered a 1.6 rating for a total of 462,000 viewers while drawing a 1.55 rating with 869,000 viewers in the M 18-49. The ratings in the two key demos were good enough for the event to beat out ESPN’s men’s college basketball telecasts of Indiana against Michigan State as well as Connecticut’s showdown with Michigan.
The telecast peaked during the 10:30-10:45 p.m. ET quarter hour, which featured the event’s main event between lightweights Joe Lauzon and Jeremy Stephens. Lauzon’s submission submission victory over Stephens drew a 1.51 rating for an average audience of 2 million viewers.
