According to an english translation of the Brazilian magazine Tatame, undefeated Pride “welterweight” (183 pounds) Paulo Filho could be coming to the States. However, the publication claims he won’t be fighting for the UFC, but could be close to signing with Zuffa-owned WEC.

Filho is 14-0 and is considered one of the best middleweight fighters in the world. There have been rumors for quite some time that he could be coming to the UFC, and there was even a rumor that he was considered as a possible injury replacement for Martin Kampmann against Rich Franklin at UFC 72. The spot eventually went to Yushin Okami.

The addition of Filho would be a coup for the WEC, which makes its television debut this Sunday night at 9 p.m. ET on the Versus network.

If Filho is indeed headed for the WEC then there could be some solid fights for him in the middleweight division against Joe Riggs and Jason Miller. A bout with Miller would be especially interesting.
