Brett McDermott and Ruben Wolf will headline BAMMA 29 this May for the heavyweight title.

The event takes place May 12 from the Genting Arena in Birmingham, England.

Below is a complete press release:

BAMMA returns to Birmingham on May 12th 2017, and prepare for another explosive chapter to be written in the illustrious England versus Germany sporting rivalry, with Heavyweights Brett ‘The Spartan’ McDermott and Ruben ‘The Viking’ Wolf clashing for the Heavyweight Title.

“We are delighted to be returning to Birmingham for BAMMA 29 with such a huge show. Two world titles top off one of the most action packed cards we have ever assembled and I expect the roof to come off when England and Germany go head to head for the Heavyweight Title. May 12th is going to be big.” David Green, BAMMA CEO

Brett ‘The Spartan’ McDermott is one of the nation’s most feared Heavyweights. With huge punching power and an attacking style designed to KO opponents, May 12th offers McDermott his greatest ever prize in MMA – the coveted BAMMA Heavyweight Title.

“I’m really excited to be headlining BAMMA 29, Back in the Gentlings Arena, Birmingham, it’s been a rocky few months for me but I’m back on track and giving this fight my full focus and attention. Ruben Wolf is renowned for being a big hard-hitting tough and very durable heavyweight but this Spartan is going to make him huff and puff and then I’m going to knock him down and out.” – Brett ‘The Spartan’ McDermott

However, he needs to first overcome an opponent equally as powerful and motivated, in the shape of punching machine Rubens ‘The Viking’ Wolf. Wolf travels to Birmingham with the sole intention of defeating both McDermott and the hometown crowd and returning to Germany with the Heavyweight belt in hand.

“Its a great honour to be finally fighting for BAMMA & to be headlining the event means alot to me. My aim is to be the BAMMA World Heavyweight Champion. I never look past my opponents & nothing will stop me achieving my goals. Brett McDermott is a great fighter but unfortunately for him he is in the way of my goals & will fall at my feet. The Viking is coming to the UK. Victory for Germany & my adopted country Austria” – Ruben ‘The Viking’ Wolf

The BAMMA World Middleweight Title is also on the line at BAMMA 29, as Birmingham’s own Yannick ‘The Black Mamba’ Bahati takes on Matt ‘Farmer Boy’ Hallam. Two of the UK’s leading Middleweights, these fighters will be locking horns for the second time in their careers. First time around the victory went to Bahati but both fighters have progressed significantly since that bout. On May 12th, with the big one on the line, we will find out if Bahati has what it takes to raise his hand once again or whether Hallam has since learnt the keys to defeating his nemesis and take home the glory.

“Just want to say how excited I am with this amazing opportunity at BAMMA. I’m feeling in top shape ready to takedown, smash, repeat in typical farmer style. All fights are tough but that’s what drives us to be the best. This one is no different. Looking forward to see shin meet face and to show the world my new victory dance. Big thanks to family, friends, training partners, London shoot and Spiked Athletics for all their continued support.” – Matt ‘Farmerboy’ Hallam

“I’m back in UK fighting for BAMMA the UK’s number 1 promotion. I’m the best UK middleweight outside the UFC, the rest of them are bums and not on my level. May 12th I will be BAMMA world middleweight champion by finishing Matt Hallam once again in a bloody mess and become 2 promotion world champion.” – Yannick ‘Black Mamba’ Bahati
