Despite losing in dramatic fashion, Jose Aldo believes he is deserving of a rematch with UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor.
In a recent interview with Esporte Espetacular, the former champion made it perfectly clear that 145 pounds is the only place for McGregor to compete. “Notorious” lost at 170 pounds to Nate Diaz recently.
“You will come back (to featherweight) with your tail between your legs after what happened, after that embarrassment,” he said (thanks to MMAFighting.com for transcribing). “You will come back.
“He’s a lion when he’s attacking, but a kitten when he’s getting beat up.”
Aldo, one of the longest reigning champions during his time atop, added he is “waiting for the rematch.” Fellow 145-pounder Frankie Edgar has also been asking for the same, but recent reports state the UFC is interested in McGregor-Diaz 2 for this July.
