Andrei Arlovski Says he Wants Fedor Emelianenko Next

Andrei Arlovski

Andrei Arlovski may be knocking on the door for a shot at the UFC’s heavyweight belt, but “The Pitbull” has announced he wants a crack at a man who isn’t the champ….

Yes, as you’ve likely heard, old school fans have been buzzing with glee the last day or so, after new surfaced that Fedor Emelianenko is planning a come back. Since “The Last Emperor” hasn’t fought since 2012, and has repeatedly said he wouldn’t return, the development certainly caught a lot of folks by surprise. It’s also buzzed the MMA world since many consider Emelianenko to be the greatest heavyweight fighter ever, if not the pound-for-pound G.O.A.T.

Arlovski fought Fedor back at an Affliction card in 2009, when the latter was at the peak of his powers (more or less). Arlovski was outscoring Fedor early on, but then he jumped into a crushing right hand, and the fight was done.

Well, following the news of Fedor’s comeback, the former UFC champ posted the following comments on his official site:

If Fedor is coming back, he should come back to the best MMA organization in the world and UFC is that! I have always sought out to right the wrong in my career and have been very successful so far. He is who I want to take on next!

That’s the fight everyone wants to see right now and I want to deliver what my fans want!!

There you go. Now is that a fight a lot of people would love to see? Of course. Will it happen? That’s a tougher question.

First off, Fedor would have to sign with the UFC, and in the past, negotiations between the two parties didn’t go so well. Of course, since Fedor is 38 years-old now and isn’t in his prime, perhaps negotiations will go differently.

But, if the UFC is able to sign Fedor, would they match him up against Arlovski? Maybe. But since the Russian star might only come back for one fight, they would¬†look to maximize the bout’s drawing appeal as much as possible. Is Arlovski-Fedor that fight?

Not sure it is THE fight everyone wants to see but it would be awesome to see Fedor in the UFC vs anybody.

Seems to be lot of people championing Fedor going to the UFC, but surely the guy will be fighting in Bellator or KSW if he comes back? I don’t see one reason to think he would go to the UFC what so ever.
Should he return, a fight against Pudzianowski in KSW or Kimbo in Bellator would be ideal for him, not that I particularly care to see either.
But both fights would pay hugely, and do well over 1mil views.
Shit Kimbo vs Shamrock got 800k or so, imagaine what Kimbo vs Fedor gets?

Would personally rather he stayed retired than see his legacy ruined by whatever abortion of a fight Scott Coker will throw at him, but it looks inevitable.

Just read a good interview with Vadim who said one of the stumbling blocks with Fedor going to the UFC in the past of co promotion with M-1 is no more. thats a good thing as he has some good fights left in the UFC. Would love to see him ko a non juiced up Bigfoot, or even beat the snot out of Rogan who was saying just a few months ago how he thinks Fedor was on drugs in Pride.

  • THEGUNNER says:

Fedor vs anyone is a huge draw. Him vs hendo would be great. Cain v vs Fedor also would be good. He needs to shake the ring rust so maybe start him off with mir.

  • hindsightufuk says:

If he does go to the ufc, I’d love to e to see the Josh Barnett fight finally happen. Cro Cop or Hunt rematch would be cool also

  • fanoftna33 says:

Damm I had completly forgot about the Barnett fight, agreed that one would kick ass. wish Barnett had been clean a few years ago so we could have seen that and received out nice T-shirts.

  • darth_irritable says:

Fedor’s said he wants Werdum. That might get him in.
