Ronda Rousey Possibly Headed To Brazil, UFC 190

ufc 190

According to a report by Tatame, UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will defend her title this August against Bethe Correia in Brazil.

The card would likely be UFC 190 and would also include Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. Rua and Nogueira’s brother, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, are the coaches for the fourth season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.

Rousey has labeled Correia as a potential challenger after the Brazilian scores wins over Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke – two of Rousey’s “Four Horsewomen” stablemates.

“Rowdy” scored a quick victory over Cat Zingano recently, but mentioned a desire to take time off from training and fighting through the early portion of 2015.

Looking forward to this fight as Beth has been giving it to Rousey as good as anyone. Hope she can back it up.

I know this isn’t really related directly to this post but here is my thought on Rousey and this division…

I understand the only real test for Rousey is Cyborg, however she isn’t willing to risk going up in weight to fight someone who has been caught cheating. It really doesn’t make sense for her to do that.

However, take somebody like Cat Zingano or Meisha Tate… to get back into the title picture and show the fans that maybe there is something left for them in a rematech, a catchweight fight at 140 with Cyborg is something that THEY should do.

A few things could come out of it:

If one of them wins, Cyborg goes away and maybe the UFC could then bring in the 145 pound division.

If Cyborg does make weight at 140 and beats either of them, then real talks could happen with Rousey. If she doesn’t make weight, it’s on her and she goes packing.

I just think Cyborg will end up fighting somebody like this before she even can get a sniff at Rousey.

  • fanoftna33 says:

That makes sense and if she fights Tate or even Pena who is on record as saying she would fight Cyborg at 140 it would be a great intro into the UFC and a win win. If Tate wins then she beat the lady Rousey wouldnt fight if Cyborg wins she has real credibility behind her.

  • AlphaOmega says:

I predict the Ronda/Cyborg fight won’t ever happen, or will at least happen when they are both past their MMA prime for anyone to really care, kind of like Chuck and Wanderlei

  • THEGUNNER says:

They would only make these superfights if the ppv level went way down. If everyone pays to see rouse against anyone they don’t need to do anymore. If everyone decided to stop ordering ppv events by next year the cards will be stacked head to toe.

  • Screenplaya says:

The quickest way to get Ronda to fight you is to beat the bejeezuz out of one of her friends. Have Jessamyn Duke or Shayna Baszler fight Cyborg at 140. Heck, let her fight them both. On the same night. At the same time, even. :)

Once Cyborg tramples either or both of them, I think Ronda will accept the catch-weight fight.

Also, now that Nunes just destroyed Baszler, look for her to call out Duke.

My prediction is that Sarah McMann will sign to fight Cyborg… not in the UFC though.
