Bellator MMA’s top prospect, Aaron Pico, will face Brett Metcalf in the main event of AGON WC V from Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 3.
Pico remains focused on a run at Olympic gold, but is expected to transition to MMA after that. He will be taking on a former NCAA champion who is also pushing for success at the Olympic level in Metcalf.
The card will be titled “Iowa Against The World,” as Metcalf’s former Iowa Hawkeye teammate Tony Ramos meets UFC fighter Henry Cejudo in the co-main event. Cejudo won Olympic gold before heading to MMA.
Daniel Cormier, a fellow former wrestler, tweeted in support of the event, saying “AGON WC bringing wrestling to a big stage! Love it.”
A previous report by FightLine stated a major-network is expected to air the card live.
Tickets for the event go on sale this Saturday to the general public via Ticketmaster. They range in price from $16-$115, not including fees.
