Two UFC Title Fights Planned For UFC 187

Vitor Belfort

Officials have set another double-title pay-per-view, as UFC 187 will feature Jon Jones vs. Anthony Johnson and Chris Weidman vs. Vitor Belfort.

The bouts were confirmed during “UFC Tonight” Wednesday evening.

Set for May 23 in Las Vegas, the MGM Grand Garden Arena will play host to the card.

Jones (21-1) will be seeking his ninth successful title defense of the UFC light heavyweight title. In January, he earned a decision over Daniel Cormier. “Bones” spent time in rehab after testing positive for cocaine, but will not face any suspension due to it being an out-of-competition test.

Johnson (19-4) vaulted into the No. 1 contender spot with a first round TKO victory over Alexander Gustafsson less than a month ago. Since returning to the UFC, he’s won all three of his bouts, including two finishes.

Weidman (12-0) and Belfort (24-10) were expected to fight this month, but an injury forced the bout to be postponed yet again. Instead of fighting someone else for an interim title, Belfort elected to wait.

Also, lightweights Donald Cerrone and Khabib Nurmagomedov, who are ranked second and third, will meet at the Memorial Day weekend event, along with heavyweights Travis Browne and Andrei Arlovski, and flyweights Joseph Benavidez and John Moraga.

Below is the current lineup:

UFC Light Heavyweight Championship
Jon Jones (c) vs. Anthony Johnson

UFC Middleweight Championship
Chris Weidman (c) vs. Vitor Belfort

Lightweight: Donald Cerrone vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov

Heavyweight: Travis Browne vs. Andrei Arlovski

Flyweight: Joseph Benavidez vs. John Moraga

Looks like Browne will collect another former UFC champion on his belt. I don’t see that fight going any differently then Browne vs Barnett did. Arlovski should of taken the Mitrione fight

Awesome card for now, but come April it will be Arlovski Browne to the main event, Rumble vs Manuwa as Co, And the undercard will be Cerrone vs Benson 4, and nothing else anyone cares about

Badass card so far. I hate to root against Arlovski but I am a bog fan of Travis Brown, and it is a tough fight for the pitbull

I think Arlovski takes it. Brown’s standup isn’t great in my opinion, and AA isn’t going to push for consistent takedowns like Barnett did. His boxing is crisper, and faster than brown. Plus he beat the crap out of Jean Claude Van Damme a couple of times.

I hope so, I don’t like Browne for some reason, I think it stems from the first fight I ever saw of his was the boring ass draw with Kongo
