Bethe Correia Corrects UFC Boss, Says She’s Still Standing

Ronda Rousey

UFC president Dana White mentioned this past weekend that UFC female bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey might just have cleaned out her division with a convincing win over Cat Zingano later this month.

Bethe Correia didn’t appreciate that.

Correia, unbeaten in her MMA career, is coming off back-to-back wins over Rousey’s “Four Horsewomen” fighters, Shayna Baszler and Jessamyn Duke.

“Before fighting me, Ronda needs to beat me,” she told Globo in an interview. “If she beat me (then) I’ll agree with what Dana White said.

“When I fight Ronda, I will make a revolution in the UFC. Dana will look at women’s MMA differently. It will be a new generation of UFC because I will show you what is the female MMA.”

Correia (9-0) has stopped two of her nine opponents, including Baszler, since turning pro in 2012. She debuted in the UFC with a split decision victory over Julie Kedzie.

Along with earning victories, the Brazilian has made it her mission to call out Rousey, using hand gestures after her performances to signal losses by Baszler and Duke.

And yet she wouldn’t take a fight with Sarah Kaufmann. People, including women fighters, seem to forget that she was the most dominating Strikeforce champion, and the only reason SF started putting 135 WMMA on TV

She won one fight as the Strikeforce womens 135 champion, far from most dominating. She lost to Coenen by submission, got lucky vs Tate as she was a late replacement and it was 3 minute rounds. Sarah is a very good fighter but not one of the top 5 by any means.

You’re right my fault, I was thinking of the 9 finishes in 12 fights before losing to Coenen, as opposed to Correia’s 2 stoppages in 9 fights

Yabushita, yeah 19 wins but 22 loses not great.
