The MMA world is anxiously awaiting the return of Anderson Silva, and when he returns to the Octagon on January 31st, everyone will be fixed on the legend’s kicks.
Silva will fight Nick Diaz at UFC 183, which will mark the first time “The Spider” has fought since December, 2013, when he snapped his leg versus Chris Weidman. Due to the horrific injury, everyone’s been wondering how the former middleweight champ will perform, when he throws down with Diaz.
Well, one of Silva’s teammates is Rafael Cavalcante, and recently the latter spoke with MMA Fighting.com about the legend’s camp. When asked if Silva’s shown any kind of ‘mental block’, in terms of kicking with his repaired leg, “Feijao” stated:
“I wish he had this mental block because he’s kicking me a lot, and he’s kicking f—ing hard,” Cavalcante said half jokingly. “He’s bigger than me, so he usually kicks me a lot in training because I like to close the distance when I’m fighting. He’s kicking hard, thank God.”
Another of Silva’s teammates with Team Nogueira, Richardson Moreira, also had this to say about the former champ:
“It’s unbelievable to see how he’s training today, his shape,” Moreira said. “It’s going to be an amazing fight. I have no doubt he’s going to win, and it’s going to be an amazing performance.”
Moreira is scheduled to fight Ildemar Alcantara at UFC 183, which will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
It’s going to be one interesting night, especially when you consider that Diaz hasn’t fought since March, 2013, when he was decisioned by Georges St. Pierre.
