Jon Jones has likely added to his anti-fanbase heading into UFC 182, and the promotion’s boss man Dana White believes the light-heavyweight champ should just run with it.
There’s no question that “Bones” has a lot of supporters, but even before he was booked to fight his rival Daniel Cormier, Jones had his fair share of detractors too. But, after launching punches at Cormier during a pre-fight press conference, and then threatening to “kill” the challenger after a heated interview, Jones seems to have a few more critics these days.
White recently appeared on FOX Sports Live, and when asked to weigh-in on Jones and how he’s been perceived, he stated (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“I think he should embrace it,” White said. “He’s kind of come off like the bad guy in this thing. All the stuff that happened behind the scenes, when they were doing the interviews after the fight in the MGM lobby, Jones was 100 percent the bad guy.”
Interesting no? Of course, White knows full well that pay-per-views have a way of flying off the digital shelves, when they feature fighters that people love to see win or lose.
Jones-Cormier will headline UFC 182, which will go down at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. It should be a crazy night.
