This coming Saturday night, Stipe Miocic will finally get his chance to face former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos, as the two comprise the main event of UFC on FOX 13.
Earlier this year, dos Santos suffered an injury and was knocked out of a planned fight. Fabio Maldonado stepped in, and had no chance against the heavyweight contender.
In the video below, see a fight replay of that contest from Brazil. Also below is the actual play-by-play from the night of the bout:
Stipe Miocic vs. Fabio Maldonado
We conclude the day-night doubleheader with heavyweight action, as Stipe Miocic collides with Fabio Maldonado.
Miocic (11-1) was set to face Junior dos Santos, but the former champion suffered a hand injury and was removed. He is coming off wins over Gabriel Gonzaga and Roy Nelson, and owns a 5-1 Octagon mark overall.
Maldonado (21-6) is moving up from 205 pounds and is riding a three-bout win streak. He dropped three straight prior to his current run, but was unbeaten from 2007-2011.
Round 1: Maldonado wastes no time, coming right out after Miocic. However, it’s Miocic who lands the first real shot and he does it again. A big right hand connects and several quick rights and this one is all over. Huge right landed flush and he had no answer on the ground.
