UFC Fight Night 47 Now Gets Ross Pearson-Gray Maynard

ufc fight night 47

A change has been made to a lightweight scrap set for UFC Fight Night 47, as Ross Pearson steps in to face Gray Maynard.

Maynard was originally scheduled to take on Fabricio Camoes, while Pearson was booked against Abel Trujillo. An injury has forced Trujillo out, while Camoes is expected to receive a new opponent soon.

The card is set for August 16 from Bangor, Maine with Ryan Bader taking on Ovince St. Preux in the main event.

Maynard (11-3-1) is a former two-time contender to the UFC title, fighting Frankie Edgar to a draw in 2011 and losing the rematch later that year to Edgar via knockout. He topped Clay Guida in 2012, but lost to T.J. Grant and Nate Diaz last year.

Pearson (15-7) was dealt a controversial decision defeat to Diego Sanchez this past June. He fought Melvin Guillard to a no-contest last October after back-to-back wins vs. Ryan Couture and George Sotiropoulos.

Below is the current lineup:

Light Heavyweight: Ryan Bader vs. Ovince St. Preux

Middleweight: Tim Boetsch vs. Brad Tavares

Lightweight: Gray Maynard vs. Ross Pearson

Heavyweight: Jack May vs. Shawn Jordan

Middleweight: Sam Alvey vs. Tom Watson

Featherweight: Thiago Tavares vs. Robbie Peralta

Female Bantamweight: Sara McMann vs. Lauren Murphy

Welterweight: Seth Baczynski vs. Alan Jouban

Lightweight: Fabricio Camoes vs. TBA

I’m pleased with this change, I think Ross would have really struggled with Trujillo, could have been a short night for him. With Gray it should be a more even fight, and one I I’d rather see. Also this may be the main event I want to see least in Ufc history

Wow looks like Sara McMann might acually get to fight here, she has had some pretty bad luck with opponents pulling our as of late. As for the main event this is a good step up for OSP, we will see if he belongs in to upper LWH talk or if Bader can put things together and keep his momentium going. Personally I like OSP but pick Bader for the win.

Both Sara/h’s have had bad luck fan, Mcmann and Kaufman, either injuries or themselves getting injured or what have you

  • fanoftna33 says:

Yes true, I was thinking Kaufmann for losing opponents amd Mcmann having missed quite a bit of time also.
