UFC Fight Night 52: Urijah Faber To Welcome Fighter To Octagon

Urijah Faber

Former WEC champion and UFC No. 1 contender Urijah Faber is headed to the “Land of the Rising Sun” to meet Masenori Kanehara at UFC Fight Night 52.

Set for September 20 from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, the card is expected to air entirely on UFC Fight Pass. Roy Nelson vs. Mark Hunt is the planned main event.

Faber (31-7) remained unbeaten in non-title fights recently, defeating Alex Caceres via submission to improve to 5-1 in his last six. The lone loss during that time came at the hands of then-UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao in February.

Kanehara (23-11-5) had his six-fight win streak snapped in April with a disqualification loss vs. Toshiaki Kitada. Prior to that, he had finished all six of his opponents. For his career, the UFC newcomer owns nine submission and eight knockout wins.

The fight was first reported by Fight Sport Asia. Previously, Faber was expected to meet Kid Yamamoto, but Yamamoto suffered an injury in training and is not expected to be ready to fight in September.

man this card looks like a fuck load of fun!
really pleased to see Masanori Kanehara get this chance, he has a good record since getting stopped a couple times in Senguko, though none of his opponents have been in the same hemisphere as Faber. Really tough fight for him, I think Faber will be too strong, but in Japan who knows

This the first time I’ve seen the lineup on this card, it’s going to be awesome. I hate that it’s only on fight pass since it will limit the exposure these guys will be getting, at least in the US. But I’m also really happy to have fight pass, so I will definitely be tuning in.

How are you finding Fightpass Dufresne? Here in the UK i think every card has been shown so far on BT Sports, except maybe the NZ card. So far i haven’t needed it.
Hows the stream? is it ok, any issues?
