Amir Sadollah To Make His Return At UFC Fight Night 53

ufc fight night 53

The first fight for UFC Fight Night 53 has been released by the promotion, as Amir Sadollah will return to take on Nico Musoke.

Set for October 4 from the Ericcson Globe in Stockholm, the entire event is expected to air online via UFC Fight Pass.

Sadollah (6-4) has spent his entire 10-fight pro MMA career in the UFC, coming up from The Ultimate Fighter where he was the Season 7 winner. However, the 33-year-old has not fought for over two years due to injuries and surgery.

Musoke (12-3) has won two of three inside the Octagon, including a pair of decisions over Alessio Sakara and Viscardi Andrade. He dropped his last bout to Kelvin Gastelum earlier this year.

So far, this is the only fight announced for the night.

  • Dufresne says:

Amir has talent and he’s a likable guy, but I don’t think he’s got enough talent or enough charisma to stay in the UFC if he loses this next one. He might squeeze out one more fight just because it seems like the UFC has a soft spot for him, but if I were him I wouldn’t be planing on it.

I bet that even a loss here we still see Amir in the UFC for at least one more fight. I mean who really looks good after two years out? Just like with Cruz coming back you need the first fight just to gage whereabout they really are not just physcially but mentally. Remember when Mir came back after a few years because of his motorcycle accident, he looked so bad for his next three fights, yes even the win vs Christensen, but they liked him and gave him chances and it paid off.

  • Dufresne says:

That is an excellent point, but the heavyweight division back then was a wasteland. They needed any name they could get. The welterweight division, on the other hand, is absolutely stacked.

But I honestly hope you’re right and he gets another shot if he doesn’t pull it off against Musoke. I guess I’m one of those with a bit of a soft spot for him.

  • Rece Rock says:

I didn’t even realize it’s been 2 years… Add that into being on the wrong side of 30… Tall order for Amir to fight at this level but hey hopefully he makes the most of this opportunity.
