ONE FC Inks Brandon Vera To Fight Deal

Former UFC fighter Brandon Vera has signed on with ONE FC, the top MMA promotion in Asia. Officials confirmed the signing recently.

Vera (12-7) was released following back-to-back knockout losses, the last of which came in August to Ben Rothwell. He was also finished by Mauricio “Shogun” Rua in 2012, going 1-4 with one no-contest in his last five UFC fights.

“The Truth” started his career off with eight consecutive victories, including a 2006 first round TKO win over Frank Mir that led to a bout with another former UFC heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia. Vera, though, lost via decision and followed that up with a TKO loss to Fabricio Werdum.

No announcement of Vera’s ONE FC debut was made. Along with facing Mir and Sylvia, Vera also lost to Randy Couture and Jon Jones.

Glad to see Vera get a good deal. The guy was up and down in the UFC but never turned down a fight and did pretty well when the guys he was fighting were clean.

I’m glad to see Vera find a new home as well. I think if he had come into the sport maybe 2 years before he did, he would have had a solid shot at winning a title in the UFC. Hell, if he hadn’t broken his hand in round one against Sylvia he might have had a good chance there.
