UFC, Will Campuzano Go Separate Directions After Another Setback

The UFC has released Will Campuzano after the fight lost two straight decisions. Campuzano confirmed the news on Twitter.

Campuzano (13-6) was brought in for a second UFC run in 2013, taking on Sergio Pettis. He lost to Pettis, the younger brother of UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, via decision.

The defeat snapped a five-fight win streak for Campuzano, that included three finishes.

In 2010-11, Campuzano went 0-2 inside the Octagon, as well, including a decision loss to Chris Cariaso.

Campuzano was given one more chance at securing his initial UFC victory in March, but dropped a decision to Justin Scoggins at UFC 171.

  • AlphaOmega says:

    “after the fight lost”

  • Dufresne says:

I believe it’s supposed to be “…after the fighter lost…”

Kind of a rough deal for Campuzano, especially considering he just made his flyweight debut and that division desperately needs any form of depth it can get and he did it against a guy who replaced his planned opponent on short notice. Oh well, he’ll either make it back or he won’t. Best of luck to him.
