Invicta FC Names Julie Kedzie Matchmaker

Julie Kedzie is the new “Joe Silva” of Invicta FC.

Kedzie will now be working with the all-female promotion in the role of matchmaker, Invicta FC announced recently. She retired from the UFC after a loss to Bethe Correia recently.

“We are thrilled to expand Julie’s role in the Invicta FC organization and have one of the pioneers of our sport assume the pivotal role of matchmaker under her wing,” said Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp. “There is no one more qualified than someone like Julie, who has lived and breathed MMA for the last 10 years, to take on the responsibility of nurturing our athletes, building our roster and creating the most exciting match ups possible for our live event series.”

Kedzie (16-11)will continue to serve as a color commentator for events going forward.

“I am excited about this incredible new opportunity that will allow me to remain as active and hands on as ever in contributing to the growth of women’s competition in our great sport,” Kedzie said. “Shannon Knapp has done an unbelievable job at pushing the envelope and helping transform women’s MMA into an aggressively expanding enterprise, a development that will undoubtedly lead to increased participation in the sport by young women athletes who want to challenge themselves in the world’s fastest growing sport.”

Recently, Invicta FC lost a number of strawweight fighters to the UFC, as that promotion puts plans in place to start the division through the 20th season of The Ultimate Fighter next year.

Good for Julie, she seems like a perfect fit as she is incredibly knowledable behind the mic and I am sure she will bring that and make ever more exciting Invicta match ups. Off topic a bit but what kind of deal do you guys think the UFC gave to Invicta for giving them all there 115 lb ladies, I read Knapp said it was a fair deal, was it just money or what?

i hope its a WECesque deal. Hopefully they’ll get Invicta on FX or at least somewhere, and slowly fold them once they get more recognition and take all the fighters.

i’m still amazed Invicta doesnt have a TV deal, it astounds me
