Alexander Gustafsson’s 5 Biggest Wins

Light heavyweight title-contender Alexander Gustafsson has spent years studying inside an eight-sided classroom for the test he’s scheduled to take on Saturday night when he faces champion Jon Jones at UFC 165. The 26-year old Swede has racked up a 15-1 record in his career including success in six straight showdowns and should be fully prepared to try and deliver the first legitimate loss of Jones’ career. Aiding “The Mauler” in his quest to wear divisional gold will no doubt be the experience he has compiled in the cage against a number of tough opponents including a former UFC champion. He should’ve had to beat Hendo, Glover, Shad or won a rematch with Davis before getting his title shot…just my opinion though

  • MCM says:

The man is on a 6 fight winning streak. That’s more than Jones had when he got his shot at the belt and more than any other fighter Jones has faced since holding the belt. I think Gustafsson earned it just fine.

  • AlphaOmega says:

Pretty much MCM, he has a win streak, and it’s not a rematch, I see nothing wrong with this match up. Except for the fact that I don’t think Gustafsson has a popsicle’s chance in hell of of winning.

  • stone says:

But look at the line up….the only big name is Shogun & he just used his reach to keep him at a safe distance…did he even finish him?…its not just for “my approval” but for AG himself….just like Canelo this past Saturday with Mayweather…. He had no real tough fights aside from a close decision w/Trout and it showed….AG will look amateur against Jones, just wait and see

  • hindsightufuk says:

i agree with Stone, but then i thought exactly the same about Weidman and how he didnt deserve to get in with Silva. he’d only beaten Maia in a decision, and then Munoz, both of whom i dont rate overly highly at MW. look what happened there…

  • stone says:

Atleast on paper Weidman seemed to be the “cryptonite” to Silva’s style….Alexander is just “tall”

  • AlphaOmega says:

Tall and lanky, which is the same as Jones, and something he’s never had to deal with.

  • fanoftna33 says:

Cant wait to see how Gustafson handles the wrestling of Jones, and how each of them react to fighting somebody they cant bully by sheer size advantage.

  • THEGUNNER says:

weidman beat maya on like 16 days notice and is undefeated ag has a good enough streak to get a shot fine but 55 bucks for this card compared to gsp vs jh is a huge no brainer that jj vs ag should be free.
