Sara McMann withdraws from August 28 tilt with Sarah Kaufman

An unfortunate bit of news surfaced this week in relation to an upcoming card on FOX Sports 1, as UFC bantamweight Sara McMann has been forced out  out of a match-up with Sarah Kaufman that was sure to send the winner into a clash for top contendership. No specific reasons were offered for her withdrawal though it is believed to be due to a personal matter rather than an injury.

MMAJunkie was first to report the change, also stating a replacement was being sought. The bout was scheduled to take place on August 28 at UFC Fight Night 27 in Indianapolis.

McMann is an Olympic medalist in wrestling and has posted a 7-0 record far since transitioning into Mixed Martial Arts. She made her Octagon debut in April, securing a first frame TKO against Sheila Gaff at UFC 159.

Damn it, was looking forward to this.

Very much looked forwaed to this fight also, would love to see Kaufman matched up with Nunes though.

  • raker says:

That’s too bad. Mcmann vs Rousey is one of the fights in MMA that I am looking forward to the most. Two Olympic medal winners in different disciplines. It’s what MMA was built on. Hope she gets back at it soon.

  • AlphaOmega says:

This sucks I really like Kaufman and I think this is the second fight in a row that’s been cancelled, the first one she had to pull out of, then this one
