Dan Henderson didn’t request TUE for TRT at UFC 161

It looks like it might be time to remove fan-favorite Dan Henderson from the discussion when it comes to criticizing the role Testosterone Replacement Therapy plays in Mixed Martia Arts. Henderson, who openly admitted to undergoing TRT treatments in the past, has either dropped the practice completely or at least didn’t feel it was necessarily going into his most recent rumble.

According to Manitoba Combative Sports Commission, who oversaw Henderson’s light heavyweight outing against Rashad Evans at UFC 161, no Therapeutic Use Exemptions were issued for the event. Likewise, none of the ten fighters randomly tested for banned substances returned a positive hit.

The 42-year old Henderson lost a hard-fought Split Decision to Evans, his second straight defeat in such a manner. He has yet to comment on the situation or the effect his decision had on his performance.

  • AlphaOmega says:

So did he not need it for that fight I wonder, or just worked out his treatment so he wouldn’t be over a normal persons levels so didn’t need a TUE.

  • hindsightufuk says:

or he just down right didn’t need it, and never has, but uses it as a performance enhancer.
not saying thats the case, but it makes you wonder

  • AlphaOmega says:

I’d think that to get a TUE you have to prove that your levels are below normal before TRT

  • darth_irritable says:

He’d still have a messed up T/E ratio, even if his absolute levels were in normal range.
