Few fans if any have forgotten about UFC heavyweight Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s gruesome loss to Frank Mir in 2011 where the Brazilian’s refusal to tap resulted in a broken arm. Fortunately, “Minotauro” didn’t suffer a similarly brutal result last night at UFC on Fuel 10 when Fabricio Werdum locked in an Armbar on the previously affected limb and started applying pressure.
Though Nogueira did go to the hospital to receive treatment, coach Luiz Dorea went online today to confirm testing revealed no structural damage.
Nogueira’s loss to Werdum dropped his record in the Octagon to 5-4 with all of his stumbles coming by some form of finish. However, even if the fight were the last of Nogueira’s career he is a first ballot Hall of Fame candidate, compiling an overall record of 34-8-1 including past success against Werdum, Mirko Filipovic, Josh Barnett, Dan Henderson, and Randy Couture.
